There has been an acquisition of Company A by Company B. Company A is a national pharmaceutical company. Company A employs 4,000 employees and has central corporate services such as human resources, finance & accounting, legal, and administrative operations. Company B is a national grocery store. Company B employs 10,000 employees and also has central corporate services such as human resources, finance & accounting, legal, and administrative operations.
This acquisition has been promoted in the media and through social media as an excellent opportunity for Canadian customers. Canadians across the country will be able to get their favourite grocery products through their local pharmacy, which is beneficial for small and rural provincial communities.
As a result of this acquisition, there are many corporate areas that are now providing a duplication of services and the volume of some service departments will increase based on bringing all the employees together.
Your group is the HR Practitioner in this case.
You have been given the responsibility to work with the Transition Team from Company B to ensure that the transition of this acquisition goes smoothly.
