Assignment - Jobs and Job Market Presentation

For this assignment, you will be creating a visual presentation about a position that interests you in the Graphic Industry.

Instructions:

The lecture for this unit broke the Graphic industry down into four segments: Print, Digital Media, Web/E-Commerce, Photo & Video. Choose ONE of the four segments from the lecture that is most relevant to you and your interests.

Research positions specific to THAT segment, not the entire industry.

Select ONE position from your list that is of interest to you. The focus of your presentation should be this position, not the industry, and not the segment or other positions in the segment.

The position should not be a specific job opening at a specific company, but a position in the segment. So, Social Media Analyst, not Social Guru at Happy Time Agency.

Determine what responsibilities this position would have, and what skills this position would require.

Consider the ways in which you are qualified, or not qualified, for the position you selected.

You will present the information you found in your research in a visual slide presentation. The presentation deck must include at least ONE slide for EACH of the following topics:

1. Your selected industry segment, and a brief description of the segment.

2. A list of at least 8 positions that you identified in that segment.

3. A single position from that list that is of interest to you, and an explanation of why you selected this over the other positions.

4. The responsibilities this position would have.

5. The skills this position would require.

6. Whether, upon graduation, you will be qualified for this position

If yes, what makes you qualified.

If no, what path do you need to take to one day be qualified for this position.

Additional presentation requirements -

Your first slide must have the following information on it: Your name, Spring 2020, the industry segment you selected, and the position that you selected.

Presentation should be a minimum of 8 slides with content for undergraduate students, and 12 slides with content for graduate students. Your title and "The end" slides do not count toward your minimum, unless you put other substantial content on them.. You may feel free to create up to 25 slides if you'd like.

You must show your sources. Indicate the source at the bottom of the slide, please do not include a single slide with all resources. A URL is fine, you do not need to do a formal bibliography.

Please do not include audio. All of your information should be presented in text, on the slides.
