Assignment - Ethical & Non-Verbal Communication
TASK - In this assessment, you will prepare and deliver a short 5-minute presentation relating to the ethical and non verbal communication in the scenario given below.
Assume your workplace is the "Division of Refugee Support" - a department that runs support programs for refugees and asylum seekers who have recently migrated to Australia. The support programs aim to assist the new migrants in understanding of Australian culture.
New staff members who join you workplace, need to be trained on how to deal with clients (new migrants). For this purpose, you have been asked to produce a short talk for such new staff, highlighting the importance of the following:
a. non-verbal communication with the Australian community (with examples) AND
b. ethical communication in your office or workplace (with examples)
You should prepare power-point slides to go with your presentation. The final slide must contain a Reference List but this does not need to be read out. There is no other written component in this assignment.
Please strictly adhere to the time limit of 5 minutes. Record presentation as an MP4 video file, containing the slides with audio presentation.
RATIONALE - This assessment task will assess the following learning outcome/s:
Be able to discuss the impact of non-verbal communication.
Be able to critically assess the main issues associated with ethical communication;
Be able to select an appropriate communication style and technique when delivering a message in different settings and to different audiences.
