Question 1 - As the name implies, visual rhetoric means the part of communication that involves what is seen, including colors, forms, and the way what we are seeing is laid out on the page. Font type and size can also be included in visual design. The term rhetoric can sometimes cause confusion, so for clarity's sake; here it means techniques used for the sake of persuasion.
Keeping these definitions in mind, describe an image from one of the CDC website pages on ADHD that you find to be especially powerful and persuasive. What makes it so? Identify the image's purpose and audience. Please be sure to provide a description of your chosen image so that your classmates and instructor can also analyze your selection.

I found the graphic under the link "ADHD Treatments for Children and Teens" to be powerful and eye catching with the amount of emotion they applied to this graphic. There are children, physicians and what appears to be parents within the graphic. There are scenarios depicted within a classroom, illustrating emotions on the faces of the characters displayed and matching the emotion displayed with the information that is highlighted on the graphic. The image is distinctly geared toward those that are seeking to obtain the information and statistics about what steps can be taken to help with ADHD and also highlights the shortcomings of the diagnostic and analytical aspects in regard to this disorder. The graphic is clear and concise with the facts that are written and displays a great Pathos appeal with the emotion depicted on the faces of the characters, associating them accordingly with the facts listed.

Images displayed on the CDC webpage show visual examples of the written works. Images send a profound message indicating that families and individuals are not alone while going through the change at hand. Having a child with ADHD can be extremely difficult and exhausting. However, positive images displayed in multiple areas of the CDC's webpage send a reassuring message to parents, teachers, and family members. Medical personnel are shown throughout the webpage talking to families and relaying positive information. Speaking to families from the heart can drastically help their emotions stay at bay during the scenario. Allowing the medical teams to give support during the diagnosing period as shown in the images provided by the CDC can keep peers at ease.
Question 4 - Writing an essay can be divided into at least three main parts-the introduction, the body, and the conclusion. Looking further into the essay, the thesis statement can be implicit (implied) or explicit (a line can be drawn under it). Depending upon the length of the essay, the introduction might be more than one paragraph, but the thesis statement should generally appear at the end of the introduction. Body paragraphs follow, and each has its own unique topic sentence, the first sentence that contains the unique supporting point for that paragraph. The conclusion needs a clear transitional word or phrase at the beginning (but not "In conclusion"), and it revisits the thesis and each main point. However, no new information belongs in the conclusion.

Thank you, professor, for that breakdown of writing an essay. I reviewed the GCU guide to writing an introduction and found it to be very useful. It was restated that a strong introduction must have a thesis that will explain what will be discussed. The guide also talked about how the format mentioned above could be used for almost any essay. Below is my thesis. I would be happy to read any feedback you all may have for me. Thank you!

Having a visual of the writing process is a huge help when writing a paper. Thesis statements and conclusions tend to be the hardest part of the essay for me to write. Below is my thesis statement from my first draft.
