PLEASE INCLUDE HEADINGS, STRONG INTRODUCTION AND CLOSING. PROPERLY CITED REFERENCES A MUST AS WELL.

Once a system is designed, it should be checked in two different ways. First, the design should be validated to ensure it meets requirements. This process is called validation of the design.

The next process is verification of the design to ensure all good design characteristics are incorporated. The project team may create several design options and decide which is more viable. The SLP builds on the concept of software reliability, which is the result of the validation and verification processes.

Required Readings

The assignment consists of an automated ambulance service system that failed due to reliability specification. The use of formal specification and software reliability are critical to systems engineering and system validation. Although the case is a few years old, new SE systems are still experiencing similar failures.

According to Sommerville, 2009, "the London Ambulance Service case introduced a new computer-aided dispatch system in 1992, which was intended to automate the system that dispatched ambulances in response to calls from the public and the emergency services.

This new system was extremely inefficient and ambulance response times increased markedly. Shortly after its introduction, it failed completely and LAS reverted to the previous manual system.

The systems failure was not just due to technical issues but to a failure to consider human and organizational factors in the design of the system."

SLP Assignment

In 2-4 pages provide an assessment of the ambulance service system and what would you have done differently to make the system a success. In the report provide the following sections to structure your report.

Background of the project

Problem being addressed

Approach taken

Problems experienced

Things that you would do differently
