Question

When assessing a client with a history of kidney stones, the nurse notes the client is taking daily vitamin C supplements. What dietary counseling should the nurse provide to this client? Limit intake of supplemental vitamin C, which can exacerbate stone formation if taken in high doses. The client should increase daily intake of vitamin C for its antioxidant effects. Stop taking vitamin C because it is only beneficial for common cold symptoms. Fluid intake should be monitored to prevent stone formation.
