The university undertook an ambitious goal: to assess the use of cannabis in the Canadian population. The university spent millions of dollars training people, equipping mobile testing units, and contacting survey participants. The study used a self-report questionnaire/test to determine cannabis use. Research has shown that persons who use cannabis may be unwilling to admit use for fear of repercussions.

Do you think this would affect: a) the sensitivity of the questionnaire, or b) the specificity of the questionnaire? Justify your choice.
Would you expect that unwilling to admit use will introduce bias in studies estimating the prevalence of cannabis use in Canada? If so, what can you say about the direction of the bias?
If the true prevalence of cannabis use increased from 10% to 15% and other characteristics of the overall population remain the same, would you expect the positive predictive value of your test to increase or decrease?
