Ethics-
Kohlberg's Stages of Moral Development
1. At around the 2 minute mark of the video, viewers were asked to provide a yes/no response to the question, "Should the husband (Heintz) have done that?" What was initial response? Yes, he should have or No, he should not have. Then explain your ethical reasoning for your yes or no answer.
2. Based on Kohlberg's six levels of moral development, what level of morality development do you believe your reasoning usually falls? Explain why your reasoning generally falls in that specific level. You may also want to consider watching the Harry Potter video provided in the 'Additional Resources' section below.
3. Now, let's look at the Heintz dilemma again and let's place ourselves in Heintz's situation. You are now in Heintz's shoes, and your loved one is dying (parent, grandparent, child, or sibling). You are facing the exact same situation as Heintz, what would you do? Would you steal the drug to save your loved one? Yes or no?
Now, explain your reasoning and identify the moral development level your response is tied to.
Lastly, did your response change because of your personal relationship connection to a loved one? Why do you believe it did or did not change?
