Applying marketing concepts to inform company strategy.
You are to identify a company operating in the industry sector allocated to you, research its activities, and write a report to the CEO that analyses (using best practice concepts introduced in lectures) how the company should approach the following matters -
1. Firstly concisely evaluate the question "Is marketing a philosophy or a process?", coming to a clear conclusion. (300 words)
2. Then introduce a company in the sector allocated to you - what does it offers, to which customers in which geographies, and against which competitors? (300 words)
3. Summarise the changes in the company's operating environment in the last 5 years (look wider than the Covid 19 pandemic), and analyse how the company responded. (700 words)
4. Critically assess how the company creates ‘value' for customers - how is this different from the solutions offered by competitors? (700 words)
5. Finally, consider how the company implements its marketing strategy (communicates ‘with' and delivers ‘to' customers), and make relevant recommendations to improve integrated effort to build relationships. (1000 words)
INSTRUCTIONS
Use the main body of 3,000 words to evaluate, discuss, and assess the company's operations.
- Make effective use of diagrams, tables and appendices. These are excluded from the word count.
- Detailed information about the company should be presented in Data Appendices.
- Create a Concepts Appendix to briefly summarise the concepts which you think are most relevant for sections 3, 4, and 5 above.
Ensure the work you submit is your own effort, and adopt the Harvard referencing style to acknowledge sources you have used. Your submission will be checked using TurnItIn software to ensure compliance with BBS plagiarism rules.
As a minimum, include 10 sources (academic journals, and reputable news/trade publications).
