As more and more mobile and handheld devices become prolific in everyday life, many applications have been ported from a traditional PC environment to the mobile devices. Mobile devices tend to have proprietary platforms with their own unique operating systems. As a result, many applications ("apps") are written for many different devices and platforms. Compatibility and a common "look and feel" as well as a common "user experience" become concerns when porting across many different platforms.

Write a 1-2 page research paper with at least two outside references summarizing trends in porting existing PC applications to the mobile environment, what challenges are faced when software designers are presented with a multitude of mobile device platforms, and how mobile programs may be written for a "common denominator" in terms of user experience, regardless of the platform the app resides on. What are some of the concerns regarding security of apps, and of personal data handled by the apps? How might reusable code be a help or a hindrance in this regard?

Research for articles discussing these topics and then present your own opinion discussing trends, pitfalls and solutions when it comes to mobile device app programming. This paper should be submitted in APA format with a title page and a references page.
