Post a draft of your PICOT question. This should be the same question you are using in your research paper. Give and receive feedback to refine your PICOT question.
According to an article in Worldviews on Evidence-Based Nursing, the perfectly written PICOT question is the difference between successful research and limited research. PICOT questions should be written in past-tense and not include directional words that would cause the search engine to have bias (Gallagher Ford & Melnyk, 2019). My PICOT question is as follows:
In diabetic patients with diabetic ulcers, does the application of Medi-Honey for wound care twice weekly result in better outcomes in terms of wound healing compared to the application of Iodosorb for wound care once weekly for a period of 8 weeks?
P - Diabetic patients with diabetic ulcers
I - Application of Medi-Honey twice weekly
C - Application of Iodosorb once weekly
O - Result in better outcomes in terms of wound healing
T - 8 weeks
(Formulating a PICOT Question, 2020)
I am open to suggestions for changes to make this project have a clear direction and purpose. I chose wound care because I am passionate about it and want to provide care that is not trial and error which does happen at times in home health. Obviously, every patient is different and heals differently, however some interventions may clearly provide better outcomes than others.
