A transplant surgeon has 5 patients in need of organs and there are none available. However there is a new patient who walks, a drifter without family ties, who needs help with a headache. This person has 5 good organs--2 kidneys, a heart, liver, lung)....so the doctor kills the drifter, takes the organs and saves the lives of the five patients who would otherwise have died.

Explain how this thought experiment can be part of an argument against utilitarianism. Consider one Utilitarian response. Is the argument effective against utilitarian or can the utilitarian adequately respond to it.
