You will do an argumentative and analyzing speech for your oral assignment. You will do the speech in the classroom in front of other students but in smaller groups.

Social injustices have for a very long time been discussed in music and in the lyrics sung by famous artists as well as bands. One example of a song talking about social injustice is "Same Love" by Macklemore and Ryan Lewis. This song is about that love has no gender and it is for marriage equality, same-sex marriage, which is controversial and banned in many countries as of today.

The assignment:

Choose an English song of your choice where they sing about social injustice.

Argue and critical analyze:

Argue for what social injustice your song is about.
Support your argument with evidence from the lyrics of the song.
Analyze your song by discussing the song's cultural, political or social impact.

Your presentation:

You need to have a PowerPoint-presentation containing minimum of five slides: Introduction + main body + conclusion
The structure of your oral presentation needs to be:
Introduction: Introduce your song + artist and which social injustice your song is trying to address.
Main body:
One paragraph where you argue for what social injustice your song is addressing and give evidence from the lyrics.
One paragraph where you analyze by discussing the cultural, political and/or social impact your song had/has in today's society.
One paragraph with your own interpretation and opinion of the song, and how the song was received by the public
Conclusion: Do a short summary of your presentation and end with a call to action.
