Tomorrow morning when you first arise, pick a three-digit number (anything from 000 to 999). You can choose randomly or simply decide what number you want to use. As you go through the day, note whether you encounter that number. It could be in a book, on a license plate, in a newspaper or magazine, on a digital clock when you happen to glance at it, part of the serial number on a bill, and so on.

Write down all of the instances in which you encounter your chosen three-digit number. Are you surprised at how many or how few times you encountered the number? Explain.
