Part 1: What is your role in delivering post-operative information to the patient?
Search the web and copy and paste into this discussion answer (cite your work), the most common post-operative instructions that are given to the patient immediately following a routine extraction. These instructions can be provided verbally, in a document given to the patient, and electronically. There are examples in your text, but I want you to be exposed to more variations.
As a side note: Why is a tea bag used? Please note that it will be your responsibility to deliver the post-op information. Choose one that you can actually memorize and repeat to a patient.
Explore your role as a surgical assistant.
Part 2: What personality traits are required for a surgical assistant?
Are you also sensitive to the patient's needs? Have you experienced an extraction before? How will you handle seeing someone swollen? Blood?
What if someone screams out," I am in pain!! How will you handle that? Do you have a "thick skin" enough to be a surgical assistant full-time?
What kind of assistant do you think the oral surgeon is looking for?
