Assignment - In Module Six, you created your list of competencies and added a brief rationale for the selection. These competencies were to be added to your adaptive leadership toolkit. However, before finalizing your list, you must have this discussion, which will enable you to rethink your options, if required.
In this module, you are to review your classmate's posts and add comments to their selections of competencies. Similarly, other learners will review your list of competencies and provide their feedback for the same. On completion of this review, you are to read the feedback given by your fellow classmates and make your final selection of competencies.
Consider the following during the ongoing discussion:
- Are you actively listening to the feedback from your peers, remaining open to modifying the leadership competencies you have identified based on their comments and input?
- Compare and contrast competencies selected by your peers with those you have selected. As you review their rationale that justifies their selections, provide feedback to your peers on additional points they should consider.
- Provide your rationale for keeping competencies you have selected that your fellow peer(s) have not, explaining why you believe the competencies you have selected provide a better opportunity for organizational improvement. If, however, you believe another learner's competency selection is more viable than your own, then provide the rationale for changing your initial selection to one recommended by another learner.

Initially, my recommendations included improvements to Job Satisfaction, Recognition & Praise, and Reward & Recognition all things that directly impact the employee. I felt that based on the data, with each of these aspects having the highest rate of decreased change over the sum or the years provided, increasing these would inevitably increase the rest. While I still agree that these improvements do need to be made in all of these areas after feedback from peers I do believe I missed a vital focus area, communication.
I think it is important to put focus on this area, as it has a direct correlation with leadership and management's willingness and ability to learn, actively listen, adapt, effectively relay the vision, and gain support. This will in turn have a more lasting impact on the organization as a whole. In doing this leadership can work to gain the trust of its employees. Communication is at the heart of the previously recommended values to improve. One suggestion I would make to improve communication would be to communicate the same message in multiple ways. For instance, a message passed down from management to leaders, and then employees verbally. That same message could then be communicated via email, in the company bulletin, and in team meetings. Within these meetings questions could be asked, suggestions could be made, and recognition of good/new ideas that improve upon the vision that will be implemented can be announced. The idea is that information overload is not created, but the ideas are generated in a multitude of ways to reach all members.
An improvement in all of these areas will help to foster a self-motivated group of followers who take pride in their job function and organization. A successful increase in the focus put on these areas could potentially aid in increasing other areas that suffered in the employee survey.

Initially, I felt improvement was needed in training and rewards & recognition. I still stand by improvement being needed in those areas. However, I wanted to include communication and teamwork as well. Employees should feel valued on the job and being recognized for their hard work and dedication will be the best way to show them that their hard work does not go unnoticed. Previously, I believed the employees needed more training to stay current with new information and software the company may have. Supervisors should also receive additional leadership training to better help them understand how to lead their team and have a better understanding of how to deal with employees in a more respectful and caring way.
Communication is key. Meetings are necessary not only for updates but also for feedback, suggestions, questions, and concerns. Supervisors should consider suggestions from employees. This shows employees that they are a part of a team and their suggestions or feedback is being used to help with productivity within the workplace. Employees should feel comfortable coming to their supervisors with questions and supervisors should be more welcoming. Overall, employees' happiness at a company shows a positive effect on their work which is great for the company.
