Data science and machine learning have progressed greatly in the past decade. AI (artificial intelligence which is described as machines with the ability to make human decisions) and machine learning are a major component of the data science field (Benbya et al., 2020). Today, many people may know about algorithms thanks to social media and their exploitation of the advertisement space. It may seem like these algorithms run on their own and have a telepathic link, knowing about all aspects of a person's internet traffic history and curating their recommendations to specific users. However the algorithms are not a sentient running machine. Hundreds of data scientists are needed to keep adjusting the algorithm, tweaking mistakes and making sure the system is always functional (Gilpin et al., 2018).
