Question: You'll remember from Thomas Schatz's discussion that genres of Social Order are encoded male and genres of Social Integration are encoded female. This division also indicates something about the predicted audience for certain kinds of films. Our assumption is that romcoms are for women (hence, the other name, "chick flicks").

Consider the connection between gender and genre. Is Schatz right? Are there some films for women and some for men? Is the romcom a "lesser" genre than either the western or the horror film? Use the examples we've studied in your answer.
