Case Study: Moore is a consequentialist, so like Utilitarians, he only values results. However, he's not a Utilitarian because he thinks that valuable consequences are not limited to pleasurable consequences. He holds multiple types of consequences are independently valuable.
The difference between Higher and Lower pleasures is that Higher pleasures are intellectual and Lower pleasures are carnal. If Higher pleasures are better, Moore thinks they can only be better because they're intellectual. This means, according to Moore, Mill inconsistently values two things (intellect and pleasure) while pretending Utilitarianism (pleasure alone).
Questions: Who is correct?
1) Are there different types of pleasures where one is more valuable?
2) Should we retreat back to Bentham for quantity-only Utilitarianism?
3) Should we reject Hedonism entirely? (We can still embrace Moore)
