Problem: Unlike most states, Oregon has legalized physician assisted suicide. There are very strong restrictions on this law that include that the patient: "(i) be clearly competent, (ii) have less than six months to live, and (iii) wait 15 days before filling prescriptions to avoid impulsive decisions. Physicians could not administer the fatal dosage, only prescribe it." (Pence, 39) Do YOU agree with the Oregon policy or do you feel any form of physician assisted suicide, despite stringent restrictions, is wrong and should be banned? Are Oregon's restrictions and safeguards adequate?
