Assignment:

When children begin school is the most likely time they may be diagnosed with some type of learning disorder or other disability, and statistics show that the diagnosis of these disorders is on the increase. Many think this is due to today's technology and a better understanding of the disorders themselves. Others, however, feel that learning disorders are being over-diagnosed and cite many reasons for this: money (learning disabilities have become an industry benefitting pharmaceutical companies and psychologists . . .); some diagnoses are "trendy"; inadequacies in education are being diagnosed as disabilities . . . What do you think? Are learning disabilities being over-diagnosed? Explain your thinking.
