GUIDANCE
For Assignment 3, which is focused on CO4, you are to assume you have been invited to do a 15 minute presentation to a monthly meeting of the AIUS and share your views about urban regeneration drawing on your learnings to date and on how AIUS members could benefit from knowing more about UR strategies in other countries

What happens with respect to urban regeneration or what is or isn't called urban regeneration in other countries may be of benefit to practice in Australia and to your development as professionals who ideally can engage in broad discussion about different approaches and the contexts in other countries

Overseas experience is discussed in this text

both are available through UniSA Library catalogue

Made reference to HafenCity Hamburg and of course to urban renewal approaches in Colombia.- HafenCity and a number of overseas case studies were reviewed in the SGS document on best practice urban renewal. We will have a lecture on Colombian experience on the 15th of this month via Zoom from Bogota

You are to assume you are making a presentation to a group of people who have a good working knowledge of UR especially since they have read Assignment 2 !

In making the presentation I propose that you use the following structure and associated relative word count
• Introduction
• Summarise the Australian experience - definitions and extent of UR - development contexts, strategies, theory, evaluation strategies.
• Describe 3 major overseas contexts/projects and their main common features and their unique characteristics - use analytical and descriptive categories that can be compared with Australian UR best practice.
• Discuss how key learnings from these projects might inform and or have already informed Australian practice.
• Conclusion and anything else you want to say.

Assessment criteria
• Ability to summarize Australian UR practice using standard conceptual categories
• Ability to utilize case study and other material on overseas UR examples to describe the key aspects and learnings.
• Ability to use relate overseas experience to the Australian context.
• Presentation clarity.

Discuss small deviations from this model and to interpretations of criteria that maximise efficiency and user friendliness of the presentation given time constraints. Powerpoint or similar presentation/visualisation technology should be considered

Some students will be selected at random to present in the tutorial in Week 13 and other students can develop and record a presentation using Zoom - more about this later.
