You are an HR Manager for a medium sized retailer consisting of 100 employees. You have noticed a few issues with the current practices of the organization and would like to use them as opportunities to improve. You are to apply your knowledge of Organizational Behaviour to choose the most appropriate remedies to address these issues.

Your responses should go beyond simple yes or no answers. This will be your opportunity to improve your organization's service and financial competitiveness. In addition, it should show the value of HR to your CEO who has always viewed HR as a necessary evil rather than a strategic business partner.

1. You have noticed supervisors engaging in the self-fulfilling prophecy cycle with their new hires. This has led to a great deal of turnover in the department. What would you do to make the supervisors aware of the problem and to help them avoid it in the future?

2.Your front-line service employees are becoming stressed with the amount of emotional labour they are experiencing when dealing with customers. This is sometimes referred to as compassion fatigue. What structural changes could be made to help alleviate this problem and what could be done for the emotional well being of these front-line employees? How will you guide employees towards self-care?
