Question

"The nurse is devoted, considerate, comforting, perceptive, and approachable to the patient receiving care." (Durgun et al., 2020, p.1). I will incorporate this element into my practice as a nurse by building a rapport with the patient. They will understand that we will have a professional relationship and that I am a reliable nurse who supports them. When they need emotional support, I will just sit and listen to them to help with this relationship. When I speak with patients as a nurse, I will make sure that I am not biased or passing judgment. Transparency about their care and open communication with them will be another way I demonstrate my reliability. Furthermore, I will consistently be involved in their care and exhibit sincere concern for their well-being. As a nurse, I will draw from my background as a certified nursing assistant. When I worked with senior citizens, I would simply tell myself that I would treat each resident with the same level of care that I would want for my own family. In my opinion, patients are more likely to trust you and be forthcoming about their care when they perceive that you sincerely want to assist them.
