Applying Theories of Motivation
You are managing a group of clerical workers who process medical insurance claims. Their work is routine and recent results of a job satisfaction survey indicate that they are bored and are not feeling motivated to perform their jobs.
Making any assumptions about the situation that you feel are necessary to answer this question, explain how you would apply your knowledge of the Job Characteristics Model to make their jobs more motivating. Referring directly to at least three of the five variables associated with the model (e.g., skill variety, task significance, etc.), make suggestions for motivating these employees. Be specific.
