A major role of the nurse is to advocate. To do so, the nurse must be aware of the issues. Advocacy involves participation in policy decision making at the local, state, and national levels. This can be accomplished through serving on committees, voting, joining organizations, running for office, or voting for candidates who support quality healthcare.  Give nursing a voice.
