This workbook is assessed as Pass/Fail - you must pass the module to complete your MA. The quality of your work for this module will directly affect the quality of your work for the major project. Careful work at this preparation stage will lead to success in your postgraduate major project.
You will meet the five module learning outcomes through each of the five tasks for this module:
1 Explain the importance of research to an area of practice in education
Task one in the workbook is to set out the specific area of practice that you are interested in researching and explain the reasoning behind your choice of topic for your proposed project.
2 Show knowledge of educational research methodologies and methods.
Task two in the workbook involves identifying the strengths and limitations of different methodologies and methods, to justify your preferred approach.
3 Apply ethical codes of practice to planning for educational research.
Task three in the work book will involve completion of the ARU research ethics checklist and identification of ethical considerations in your planned research project and how these could be addressed. ( I will add the certificate).
4 Develop a strategy for review of literature on an educational topic.
Task four in the workbook will be to set out your strategy for finding the key literature for your project in a systematic way. You will also be expected to identify key authors and papers to guide your work.
5 Propose and justify a small-scale educational research project
Task five, the final workbook task is in three parts: a short presentation your proposal, for your peers; a project plan/timeline; and a 700 words project summary
