Apply effective interpersonal skills.
This Week's Detailed Case Study Information
Rahim works as a manager at one of Big Stores Co. branches. Rahim supervises a team of 10 employees who work at different furniture departments. Rahim has been working for the same company for the past 10 years. He loves his job, and he enjoys coaching his team.
Recently a new employee, Layla, joined the company, and was assigned to Rahim's team. One her first day, Rahim took Layla for a tour around the store and introduced her to all her colleagues. Layla enjoyed the tour, and she was happy to work with Rahim. On the same day, she went for lunch with all her colleagues and introduced herself. Over lunch, Rahim's team was chatting about work, and how much they love working for the company. Layla was excited to start working in this team.
During Layla's first two months, she worked hard and learned a lot. Rahim was very happy with her progress, and he was surprised that she was able to achieve the required targets. To recognize Layla's achievements Rahim gave her a bonus. Then suddenly the situation changed, Layla stopped working, and became negative almost about everything. She started complaining and was rude with her co-workers. Rahim was surprised by Layla's behaviour, and she asked to meet her. She agreed to meet Rahim, and them met the same day. During the meeting Layla was rude, and did not listen to Rahim. When Rahim asked her if there is something going on with her personal life which could be affecting her professional life, Layla answered "it is not your business". Layla did not have an open conversation with Rahim, and Rahim was frustrated about this. Once they ended the meeting Layla continued her unprofessional rude behaviour. At this point Rahim decided to talk to you and ask for your help.
