Select an organisation - ROYAL LANCASTER HOTEL in London

PART 1

1. An overview of the organisation and it's change processes.

2. A PEST/SWOT analysis to be undertaken to identify drivers of change.

3. An evaluation of the drivers and impacts of change and how they have affected organisational strategy. Comparing the impacts of change and the effect they have had upon the organisation's strategy and operations.

4. Evaluation of how change will have affected leadership, individuals and team behaviour.

5. An evaluation of how the impact of change was minimised and the application of appropriate models applied to plan for and process change efficiently.

6. Critical evaluation of the long-term implications of change to inform conclusions and recommendations for minimising effects of change through effective planning and managing change, including change impact analysis to identify potential risks of change.

CHANGE TO TAKE IN CONSIDERATION as of pandemic Covid19

Strategic - ( process - technology )

New systems to manage operation such as Knowcross System ( please research in internet how this works and helps operation), benefits and downsides and implementation of the AEROGUEST - please research how this works and pros and cons

Structural - redundancies during the Covid pandemic, redesign of the departments with additional tasks and shift in the management hierarchy - redundancy of the Hotel Manager and redundancy of the Food and Beverage Director which caused merging of the Events and Food and Beverage departments with the Director of events taking on board both functions. Plus , as a company have 3 hotels in London, HR departments have been centralised with the Director of HR for three properties ( benefits and downsides)

PART 2

Scenario and activity:

Further to Assignment 1, you are required to write a paper to present in a seminar. The focus of the seminar paper will be to explain barriers to change and the influence it has on the decision making of leaders in the chosen organization. This will include the use of a ‘force field analyses to analyse the forces influencing change

Using a variety of change management theories and models (situational leadership, change initiation, Kotter's 8-Step model, Lewin's change management model), apply different leadership approaches to dealing with the change identified in your selected organisation.

Your seminar paper should be written in report format and cover/consider the following:

1. Application of force field analysis to determine opposition and support for change.

2. Use of force field analysis to make valid recommendations for meeting the organisation's objectives.

3. An explanation of the different barriers to change and how they influenced decision making and leadership.

4. How was change accomplished and how successful was it?

5. Advantages and disadvantages of different leadership approaches to dealing with change, illustrated by application to a range of examples.

6. Critical evaluation of different leadership approaches and models of change management
