The assignment requires both compound questions and corresponding benchmarks for each question. i need to ask a unique and different benchmark for each question. This will guide the panel members to recognize good responses and provide a guide for scoring the interview accordingly. A compound question has multiple parts, e.g., describe an experience where you were called as an expert in your field, what specific expertise did I provide, and what was the outcome of my involvement? This particular question requires the applicant to speak on 3 related but distinct areas of the question. After asking the question, the panel can learn a lot about the applicant's ability to listen and respond completely to all parts of the question. The panel should treat all applicants the same and not coach applicants when failing to answer completely. This exercise can be very revealing about the applicant's ability to listen to future instructions once hired.
Five questions will have 5 corresponding benchmarks (5 unique benchmarks written for each unique question). Keep the benchmarks separate from the questions. I previously mentioned to, use of benchmarks assist HR in removing some level of subjectivity out of the process as well as disparate impact, by ensuring alignment between questions that have been found to be job related and valid and the answers provided by candidates.
