Task
Drawing upon your cumulative learning experiences this semester (group case study, relevant change management theory, class discussions and reflections upon relevant personal experiences of organisational change), reflect critically on your personal perspective or philosophy of managing change and how this has changed (if at all) over the semester. In addressing this task, your paper should engage with at least the following issues:
• What you learned from reflecting critically on the perspective/s of managing change held by the change agent/s in your group case study;
• How your personal perspective (assumptions) of managing change has changed over the semester (if at all); and
• The implications of your present perspective on your approach to future organisational change
Note: the group case study does not need to be the central focus of this individual paper.
Instructions
1. Prior to handing in the final paper in the assignment box for your lecturer (opposite the School of Management office on Level 4 of C block), students are required to submit their paper to a classmate in this subject for peer review. This peer review process involves a classmate reading through and assessing/marking their paper. It is recommended that this process take place approximately one week before the final deadline to allow changes to be made to the final paper approximately one week before the final deadline to allow changes to be made to the final paper prior to submission. Once this peer feedback is received, further changes should then be made to improve the quality of the final paper. A copy of both the peer feedback received and a summary of the changes made to the final paper following peer feedback should be attached as an appendix to the final paper. A negative peer reviewed assessment will not be used as the basis for the lecturer's assessment of this work. The completion of this peer review exercise however, is a mandatory condition of completing this assessment. Note: if a classmate is not available, another critical peer will suffice.
2. Students are expected to submit a typed paper of between 2000-3000 words. Any additional (typically background) material included in the appendices will not count towards this limit.
3. All papers must be submitted with the individual assignment cover sheet.
4. Submit the paper with a staple through the top left corner of all the pages, including the cover sheet. Please do not place papers in a plastic sleeve, folder, binder etc.
5. Please keep a copy of all papers submitted. If student work goes missing (a rare but possible event), a spare copy ensures that there are no nasty arguments relating to who lost it! If students claim a missing assignment, it will need to be faxed, emailed or mailed to the lecturer the next day - so please keep a copy.
6. Due to the time constraints of this course, there are no extensions granted for assignments. Late penalties will be applied at a rate of 10 percent per day. This will apply in all cases except where an extension has been requested and granted, 72 hours prior to the due date. The request and the extension must be in writing, unless your lecturer has indicated otherwise.
7. Extensions are not automatically granted, and are for unexpected circumstances only, such as illness or misadventure, which affected the student's ability to complete their assignment/s on time. They are not for commitments that they have known about for some time in advance. If students are unable to submit their assignments on-time, due to illness or misadventure, they must submit an application for Special Consideration with relevant documentation to support their application 72 hours prior to the due date of the assessment. A form for this application is available through the Student Administration Office.
9. Reports can be written in essay or report form. The form in which the paper is written is considered less important than its substantive content, having regard to the criteria for assessing this assignment.
10. All claims made should be supported by appropriate evidence or assumptions made.
11. A full list of references must be included at the end of each submission, inclusive of all websites used in this assessment. An additional bibliography is not required where a list of references is provided at the end of the paper. It is strongly recommended that each student read carefully the relevant sections of the Faculty's Guide to Writing Assignments.
12. All papers must be written independently of other students, except for the completion of the peer review assessment process outlined earlier.
13. There is no possibility of resubmitting assignments in this subject.
14. Marked assignments will be made available for collection from the administration counter of the Discipline of Management.
