Question: Respond and with a response question- Patient is a 55-year-old married female with no religious preferences from a rural area in China. She was diagnosed with rectal malignancy a year ago and was given surgical treatment and abdominal wall fistula. Her side effects from postoperative radiotherapy and chemotherapy include nausea, vomiting, anorexia, alopecia, and pain. Her hospitalization record showed the PT was in stable condition, optimistic and talkative, and able to move around without assistance. The patient's will says she is afraid of the aid before dying and does not want to have surgery to remove any tumors developed by the cancer. The patient expressed to her son and family that she would go to the emergency room one then would go home to die. Patients informed the family to be ready to grieve. The family does not agree with the patient's will and wants their mom to continue receiving services. Legally we would want to care for the patient with her wishes expressed in writing in her living will.
