SUBJECT: Annual Christmas Party Update
Greetings,
First and foremost, I would like to thank all Occupational Health Clinic staff for your hard work and dedication since the unwinding of the Pandemic and most importantly, for putting your lives at the forefront of the Virus. In times where we experienced a widespread of the Virus here at the Shipyard, all of you continued to support and take active preventive measures to keep the clinic a safe environment to work in. Moreover, our wellness specialists have also done an amazing job in running monthly vaccine clinics which aided in more employees being vaccinated.
It has come to my attention that Covid-19 cases have dramatically increased in the last few weeks. More cases have been recorded since the end of last week which include a majority of vaccinated employees. As many of you know, the Delta Variant is more contagious than previous variants, and transmission of the Virus can exceed 6 feet. Since the growing number of cases, I've worked closely with our Medical Director to assess the cases amongst vaccinated and unvaccinated employees. Due to the number we have collected, more vaccinated employees have been positive which is very worrisome.
Annual Christmas Party on December 17th, 2021 Will Be Cancelled
To ensure all employees and families are safe from exposure, I have decided on cancelling our Annual Christmas Party. As an EB community, we must follow proper CDC guidelines on addressing the Virus and limiting ourselves from exposure as much as possible. I understand many of us look forward to partaking in this event every year, instead, you are all welcome to bring food to work the last day before our Christmas Shutdown to share with the Clinic staff.
In the meantime, we must continue to wear our masks inside any indoor facility and consider maximizing our space between each other. We will continue to look closely at the cases across the entire shipyard and will provide any new updates if necessary. Again, I sincerely apologize for making this tough decision, and if anyone has any questions or concerns please feel free to reach out to me.
