The three experience - based situational interview questions that I might ask each candidate are:
Describe a situation where you had to collaborate with a difficult colleague
Describe a situation where you had to work with a difficult manager or important client/customer
Describe a mistake you have made professionally
In describing a situation where you had to collaborate with a difficult colleague, I would expect to learn that the candidate will demonstrate outstanding communication skills and how to resolve conflict and problem-solving. This question will demonstrate to me if they are a good fit for the department and they will be able to achieve their work on time and achieve to company's goal.
In describing a situation where you had to work with difficult manager or important client/customer, I would expect to learn that this candidate has respect for authority and has excellent communication skills. Furthermore, it will also show me that this candidate is matured and is professional.
In describing a mistake that you have made professionally, I would except the candidate to answer this question honesty. This will allow me to find out the candidate learns and how long the candidate will need training. It will also allow me to see how the candidate reflects on the mistake or mistakes that were done and the lesson they learned on how to correct it in the future.
