Anatomy and Physiology are connected to medical billing and coding for many reasons, that being things such as being able to know about the anatomy of a body in codes when billing a patient, like looking for reason to bill coding has it own special format and key words for the body in billing and coding. Being able to understand the internal and external parts of the body are important when billing, and reasons for the codes we have. Physiology helps us understand the functions of those structures, knowing the codes for all the functions and physical body help you code for what screening were done, what diagnosis a provider has come to conclusion with and codes also help providers and medical coding and billing specialist get their work done quicker by just looking up small codes instead of " big words". This can also help provide information much sooner for patients, providers, and billing coders. For example when a patient has a heart attack, a medical coder will look up the code for I50.9 instead of looking up heart failure this can also help providers when searching for family medical history.
