Conducting More Research as a Social Scientist
This assignment consists of two steps, both of which have a corresponding piece of work to be submitted. You will first a short paper that systematically applies general ideas from the course to specific workplaces, either from your own observation, interview work, or simply as a research proposal. Then you will work with your groups to systematically compare and contrast the group's findings and reflect on their significance.
PART 1
Analyzing workplaces through experience, interviews, or theory.Note: You do not need to conduct research at your workplace and are generally discouraged from doing so.
Review existing course readings so far and apply them to a workplace by either:
1. Drawing from past or present work experience. Report on this workplace both in terms of what happens inside the workplace, and in terms of the broader societal context of the workplace.
2. Interviewing someone you know well about their past or present work experience, just as with (1) above,
3. Posing a set of research questions that could be applied to any workplace. Present these questions overall as a well-grounded approach to understanding the characteristics of any workplace..
