Narrative of the Life of Olaudah Equiano Assignment Instructions:
1. You will work with a large group (half the class) on the tasks of this assignment for The Interesting Narrative of the Life of Olaudah Equiano, but you are also responsible for completing your OWN individual work on YOUR assignment sheet for this text on the assignments page of Teams.
2. In your group:
a. Read and discuss this text together.
b. Collaborate on annotations, 3 sets of level questions (9 questions in total), SOAPSTone, and a critical summary on a shared document.
c. REMEMBER that on your OWN assignment sheet, you will need to complete annotations, 1 set of level questions, SOAPSTone, and a critical summary for a grade.
3. On Wednesday of this week, your group will present your text to the other half of the class, along with the analysis work you've completed.
4. Your group will present your 3 sets of level questions (9 questions in total) to the other half of the class, and the individuals in that group will be responsible for answering those questions after they have listened and taken notes.
5. Likewise, you will be responsible for listening, taking notes, and answering the level questions about the other text ("Letter to John Adams") presented by the other group.
Objectives:

Using at least two of the sources/texts from this quarter and at least one additional research source, write an argumentative essay about how and why the definition of freedom has changed/evolved since the birth of the USA. Support your argument by analyzing how U.S. leaders have used rhetoric and different political perspectives to hone (refine/redefine) the concept of freedom to citizens of their time.

The pros for Equiano are that he was not put in chains and he was able to stay on deck. The cons are the chains that were put on the others, which were becoming unsupportable, children were falling and suffocating, and there were shrieks of women and the dying that made it a horror scene. - J.K

He captured them and they tried to escape by jumping overboard or straving to their death.
