Critical Theory and Film Analysis
THE TASK:
Using your understanding of the critical theory, analyze your chosen film according to a selected (and appropriate) critical theory. You should strive for complexity in your understanding of the major issues in your film.
PRESENTATION:
Choose a film/a scene from a film to analyze. You must then either present this analysis to your peers who have also selected this option OR record and submit this analysis to Google Classroom (you must have access to the actual scene to show as part of the presentation - you can make this clip yourself, find it online, or provide a timestamp). If you are discussing the whole film, try to reference a specific moment or two; if you are analyzing a single scene or sequence of scenes and it is particularly long, choose only the most important few minutes to show.
Should you choose to film/record your presentation instead of live presenting to the class, you should consider embedding the film clip as part of your presentation. One potential tool to help you make this is Screencastify, although it is limited to only a few minutes per film. That being said, all I require is an audio recording of your analysis and some way to access the film/specific scene(s) you mention. If you wish to do more/something different, go for it!
