All of your responses should be in complete sentences. Be sure you read ALL of the introduction on the first page, as that information will help you respond to some of the questions. Save the completed document on your computer and submit it.
I. Who are the two main characters of the play who stand opposed to each other? Explain on what point(s) they disagree.
II. Analyze the words and deeds of the two main characters you referred to in the above question. Do either of them demonstrate sophrosyne? (Review the definition of sophrosyne again if necessary.)Describe each character's behavior, and why you do or don't think they are practicing sophrosyne.
III. Analyze the words and deeds of two additional characters from the play with regards to whether or not you believe the are practicing sophrosyne.
IV. The play illustrates several sets of universal, timeless conflicts which are listed on the first page of play. Discuss how three sets of conflicts from this list are illustrated by the play. For each conflict discussion, follow this outline:
1. First, state the conflict. Remember to state it as "something vs. something else" as it is in the list.
2. Next, describe the nature of the conflict. This means to tell which characters' behavior/comments illustrate this conflict, and which of the two sides of the conflict they represent.
3. Then, use a direct quotation from the play to illustrate the conflict. Introduce the quote by telling your reader who is speaking, and to whom they are speaking and then state the entire quote. (The quote itself should not be longer than 3-4 sentences, however.)
4. In parentheses after the quote, cite the page number of the document for where the quote comes from.
5. Finally, after stating the quote, tell HOW the quote helps to illustrate the conflict.
