Question

The strategies I use to analyze the use of psychotropic medications is by first obtaining a full history and physical from the patient including past medical history, current conditions and medications the patient may already be on. Asking the patient open ended questions will help further my assessment by finding out more about the patient's diagnosis. When thinking about what medications would be prescribed, the patient's severity of symptoms, type of depression or anxiety, their age, sex, any other medical conditions and any other medications they are on all factor into the decisions of what medications are suitable for the patient. The strategies I learned in this module showed that after assessing your patient, following the best evidence-based practice and clinical guidelines, you can then choose the correct and best medication for your patient.
