Case: Criminal investigators are often called upon to differentiate their investigative methods based upon the particular fact pattern and needs of a given case. These fact patterns and needs will vary from case to case.
Analyze the unsolved local murder of Craig Mullins. A librarian and experienced boater, Patrick Mullins was last seen piloting his boat on the river near his home, at around 3 PM on Sunday, January 27, 2013. A manhunt began when Mullins didn't return home that evening, leading to the discovery of his boat two days later, and his body nine days later, in another location. Upon finding his boat it was discovered that the ignition was on, the boat was out of gas and Pat Mullin's belongings were on the boat but he and the boat's anchor were nowhere to be seen. One week later, Patrick Mullins's body was discovered by a local fisherman in shallow water in Tampa Bay. He had been tied to his anchor and had been shot in the head. The case remains unsolved.
