Introduction: Ongoing Compliance Issues and Practices

• In order for a mental health agency or organization to remain viable, active ongoing efforts must be in place to evaluate and improve the regulatory and grant compliance efforts. Serious financial and even criminal consequences may result from mismanagement of grants or failure to comply with regulations.
• In addition to scholarly articles, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Grant Compliance web page and the HCCA electronic document Evaluating and Improving a Compliance Program will provide support for understanding these issues.
