Interview Analysis Paper Assignment -

What is this assignment? It is meant to test your skills in analyzing a scene between a therapist and a client in the movie "Goodwill Hunting". After learning all the various aspects of interviewing in Human Services, you are now better equipped to ask clients appropriate questions and be able to point out if good questions are being asked by other social service workers. Now you must put your skills to the test and be able to pick out a particular scene, summarize it, and analyze it. Afterwards, you put your own skills and abilities to the test by connecting it back to course content materials and giving your own take on the questions that you would ask in that particular scene and your explanation for those questions.

Assignment Details (directly from the course outline):

• You will be responsible for creating an analysis paper about the movie "Goodwill Hunting", which will be shown in-class.
• Your duty is to critically think, analyze and summarize.
• You are required to give suggestions on how the characters can improve on their interviewing skills and what connections you could make back to the course contents/readings.
• You will analyze the particular scenes and situations at your discretion, summarize them, and then focus your paper on that scene.
• You will also give your suggestions, based off your understandings of the situation, course content and outside sources (if necessary) about how they can improve their interview skills.
• Please ensure you relate it back to course contents/readings through key terms, ideas and concepts discussed in-class and readings.
• If you cite any articles, please use APA format.

How to do this assignment (further explanation):

Please focus on 1 (one) or 2 (two) particular scene(s) that caught your attention.

• Summarize these scenes - What happened in those scenes?
• Analyze these scenes - What did the interviewer say? What did the client say? What was the body language like? What was the tone of voice like? What questions were asked?

Now you must give suggestions of how the characters can improve their interviewing skills, based off your understanding of the situation of one (1) particular scene that you have discussed in your paper,

• Connect it back to the course content, with so far with what you have learned, from the beginning of the course up until now.
• Connect it back to at least 3 ideas relating to the course content materials, discussed in-class, in the lecture, and/or in the textbook
• Give your suggestion on what questions they should have asked (minimum 5 questions to a maximum of 10 questions)
• Afterwards, explain your reasoning/explanation for the questions on how these questions can improve their interviewing skills, as you may do an overall general reasoning of all your questions, or do an explanation for each of your questions -both are fine!
