Assignment:

Another pandemic that affected the world was the 1918 Influenza pandemic. Data about this pandemic was collected in a similar way to John Snow's data about the cholera outbreak. Surveyors went from house to house interviewing the families to see how many people were infected with influenza and how many people had died from it (Morabia, 2021). The difference between the two canvasses was the size of the sample. John Snow canvassed one neighborhood, while the Public Health Service canvassed neighborhoods all across the United States (Morabia, 2021). John Snow was able to make a direct causal relationship between this cholera outbreak and one water pump and help stop the spread of cholera (Harvard Online, 2017); however, the Public Health Service set out just to collect data with their interviews to analyze the mortality and morbidity of the disease (Morabia, 2021).
