In this section, you will analyze the key financial performance metrics for your company and compare them to competitive and/or industry benchmarks.  The KPI metrics you will analyze are:

Revenue growth over the prior year (percentage)

Revenue growth over the prior five years (percentage).

Earnings Before Interest, Taxes, Depreciation and Amortization (EBITDA) (percentage)

EBITDA percentage growth over the prior five years (percentage)

Net Income (percentage)

Net Income growth over the prior five years (percentage)

Earnings Per Share (dollar value)

Earnings Per Share growth over the prior five years (percentage value)

Price/Earnings Ratio (on the date of your analysis).

  • The best source for all this information is the Wall Street Journal.  Look up your company's ticker symbol and all of this information will be available for your company, and two publicly held competitors you select.
  • Prepare a chart that lists the metric descriptions above in the first column, the metrics for your company in the second column, and the metrics for two of your competitors in the third and fourth columns.  Make certain each column has appropriate headers.
  • If you prepare a chart in Excel, copy and paste it as a picture into your document.

A minimum of one page describing WHY the changes in the key metrics are what they are (in other words, what in the greater economy or their competitive performance is driving these changes).  Do not restate the numbers in the chart.
