OBJECTIVE:
This report is aimed to give students first-hand experience on applying some of the concepts learned in class, through collecting and analyzing data on different market structures. Through this assignment, students will learn how to conduct small scale research and how to interpret the findings of such research. Further, students will learn how to present their findings as a written report.
LEARNING OUTCOME 1. Perform supply and demand analysis to analyze the impact of economic events on markets and firms.LEARNING OUTCOME 2. Understand the basic features of the marketing structures based on research and analysis of the data.LEARNING OUTCOME 3. Ability to perform a research, collect and analyze data to finally reach a conclusion.
REQUIREMENT:
You are required to select 2-3 business organization operation and conduct a brief research to identify the market structures in which the business operates. You are required to present a minimum of two different marketing structures in your report. (one should be a monopolistic competition)
You are required to include the following areas in your assignment.• Introduction (overview of economics) [3M]• Review of literature on the types of marketing structure, the features and the strategies to be used the market structures. [5M]• Brief overview of the companies selected for the analysis [3M] • Identify and analyze the main distinguishing features of the market structures for the selected companies and discuss the strategies used by the businesses in the given industry [5M]• Compare and contrast the identified features of the market structures for the selected companies with the features identified through the literature review. [4M]• Critically analyze the strategies being adopted by the businesses to gains market power / maintains demand within the market.
