Assignment: The most well-known public health program is Healthy People 2020, which is an initiative to increase the health and wellness of Americans. It has a ten-year agenda with a framework of goals and objectives to be met in 2020. Other organizations have also adopted some of the philosophy of this initiative, and they have established programs that are relevant for their target population to increase health and wellness for their population. The framework is unique and it has become the development framework for states.

In public health program evaluation, there are many essential components and contributions relating to evaluation, such as using the logic model to understand the goals, measurable objectives, and related activities of the program, and for establishing the outcomes for the program.

In W1: Assignment 2, you selected a particular health issue or health disease (for example, heart disease, cancer, or obesity) to act as a main theme or topic in this course. You will use your selected main theme or topic as your focus for this and all the other assignments throughout this course.

Using the readings for the week, the South University Online Library, and the Internet for research, write a 3-5-page paper. Select 3-5 scholarly references to use in support of your response.

1. Select a public health evaluation program. You may use the Healthy People 2020 Initiatives, CDC, or select another local, state, or federal program of your choice.

2. Analyze the selected program by explaining the purpose of the program and background; the goals, measureable objectives, related activities; and the established outcomes for the program.

3. Examine the funding streams or vehicles for this program.

4. Explain how the findings of the program evaluation may be used to change a disease or public health issue.
