Case Study: When you disseminate evaluation information, you sow seeds of change. In healthcare settings, this affects people, policies, and practices in an environment that already has significant ethical considerations to manage. As the use of HIT increases, so do the legal and ethical issues surrounding their use. These issues include concerns about health information privacy and security, provision of safe and effective care, regulation of HIT systems, and efforts to ensure they are used properly and safely. Of course, dissemination can present its own set of ethical concerns. But sharing results is itself an ethical responsibility. Furthermore, appropriate dissemination can help effectively address ethical concerns.
Question : For this Discussion,
1. you analyze potential ethical issues a nurse informaticist may encounter when designing and implementing HIT (Area chosen- Appropriate uses and users of decision support systems)
2. You also discuss strategies for using evaluations to address ethical potential concerns.
