Assignment -

Using your assigned brand analyze online consumer strategies and digital media trends.

You will submit two files, one presentation file and one essay. The presentation will be shared with the class for comment next week. For the purposes of this assignment consider these digital media outlets: Website Facebook, Twitter, Instagram

In both a written essay and a presentation (you will submit the PowerPoint/Prezi/Google Slides presentation), identify the different purposes of each online service as it is used by the brand (three pieces of evidence per service). Additional support: As an example, analyze what purpose the brand uses Facebook and quote/screenshot three pieces of evidence. In other words, how do you know what they are using Facebook for? A word of caution, do not just say they use it to communicate to their audience, look deeper. Each company was chosen because they either do something well or do not. Compare the reach (likes/shares/etc) your brand has on different social media outlets. How many total likes does the brand have? Choose one post from each social media outlet and present findings of the brand's presence (what types of patterns do you see? Authentic? What is the language like?). Screenshots are most beneficial so you can refer back to them. Write about your overall thoughts about the brand before and after, and an analysis of each digital media outlet.

Essay -

  • Identify and compare patterns of use When the brand makes a post, what does it contain? When does it happen? What types of media are used?
  • Brand language - What words are used? Why are those words used?
  • Social media reach - How many likes do the posts get? How many comments? How does the brand respond to comments (and how quickly)?

Presentation -

  • Identifies the digital media outlets the brand is utilizing.
  • Identify the purpose and pattern differences of two digital media outlets.
  • Media for presentation Options: Prezi, PowerPoint, Wix, Google Slides, Video, etc.
