Homework: Business Event Leadership Decisions Case Analysis Essay
Analyze leadership of an organization during a particular event or across a defined set of events. The homework will assess your ability to identify and to compare and contrast different approaches to leadership in their practice; to analyze the significance of multiple leadership perspectives within an event, to analyze the impact of cultural models and perspectives on the leadership of an event, and to apply leadership principles to evaluate the outcomes of an event in terms of competitive advantage and organizational efficiency and productivity.
This is an individual homework. To complete this homework, you will select and gain approval for the event, from within your personal/professional experience that you will analyze. Your case study will include a description of the event, its aims, and its outcomes; your examination of the key environmental factors (i.e., apart from leadership), perspectives, and cultural models that most directly bore on the event; your analysis of the models and approaches applied by the event leader(s); your assessment of the outcomes of the event in terms of aims of the event, competitive advantage, and organizational productivity and efficiency; and your retrospective recommendations for leadership protocols to optimize organizational performance in follow-on activities.
For your written analysis:
I. Apply the principles and models discussed in this course to examine the actions during the proposed event of the leader(s) you identified.
II. Your written analysis should include:
Question A. An introductory description of the event, including the aims, at the outset of the event, of the organizational leader(s) you've chosen to analyze. This is a required component of your written product; however, please note that this is intended primarily to introduce and to provide background and context for your analysis, which follows in the next four elements. Be clear and concise in your summary description so that you may devote most of your content to analysis and recommendations.
Question B. Your analysis of the key factors that most significantly characterized and affected leadership decisions in the event. This should include cultural models and stakeholder perspectives that bore directly on the event. This may include topics discussed in class and/or others that you assess to have had the greatest bearing on leadership effectiveness in this event.
Question C. Your analysis of the leadership models and approaches applied by the leader(s) in this event.
Question D. Your assessment of the outcomes of the leadership of the event, relative to the leader's/leaders' aims that you identified in your introduction. Your assessment should explain in what way(s) and to what extent you assess the leadership approaches applied supported the leader's/leaders' efforts toward their aims. This discussion should include consideration of the concepts of competitive advantage, efficiency, and productivity as developed during the course.
Question E. Your recommendations for the leader/leaders, either for alternative approaches to leadership of the event with rationale or for leadership of follow-on activities, with rationale.
